What's New: Google Data Studio

November 15, 2016 | Wendy Trem

It seems like every day Google is releasing a new, innovative product or service. When it comes to integrative technology, there is no company that exceeds Google’s reach. The company recently unveiled Google Data Studio, which is still in beta. The new tool works to make a company’s Google Analytics, AdWords and other services easier to digest by using data visualization.

What is Google Data Studio?

The purpose of Data Studio is to help make Google Analytics and other Google connectors easier to understand without being a digital marketing expert. Data Studio allows you to connect all of your marketing data and transform that data into fully customizable reports and charts.  This new platform allows nearly anyone in your business the ability to access and understand your website’s data.

How does Google Data Studio work?

To build a report, users pull in data through various pre-built connectors in Data Studio. Right now the following data connectors are available to use:

  • AdWords
  • Attribution 360
  • Google Analytics
  • Google Cloud SQL
  • BigQuery
  • Google Sheets
  • MySQL
  • YouTube Analytics

Once your data is pulled in, Data Studio offers a broad array of visualizations to display your data. Show the percentage of gender visitors with a pie chart or your most popular keyword using a bar graph. The colors, shapes and sizes are yours to customize.

Reports are dynamic, meaning when an update is made to the data source, your report is updated as well without having to go in manually.

If you’re interested in keeping track of a reporting document with your team, or with your clients, Google Data Studio could be extremely beneficial to you. A limited free version of Data Studio beta is available now.
